About State Award to Teachers

Teacher's Day in India is celebrated on 5th September, marking the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Recognizing Educational Excellence

The State Award to Teachers is a prestigious recognition program instituted by the School Education Department, Government of Haryana, to honor teachers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to education and have made significant contributions to the teaching profession.

This award celebrates educators who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to student learning, innovative teaching methodologies, and overall contribution to the educational ecosystem in Haryana.

The program aims to motivate teachers to maintain high standards of teaching and inspire others to achieve excellence in the field of education.

Categories & Considerations

Criteria and rewards for outstanding educators

Categories of Award

The following categories of regular teachers shall be eligible for nominations
  • Category A (Secondary) – Principal, Head Master High School, PGTs (All Subjects).
  • Category B (Elementary) - PRTs, Head Teachers, C&Vs, TGTs (All Subjects) and ESHMs.

Conditions of Eligibility of Teachers

Detailed Eligibility Criteria

  • Classroom teachers with at least 15 years of regular teaching experience. Headmasters/Principals with 20 years of regular teaching experience out of which at least 5 years' service, as Headmaster/Principal including CDC charge.
  • For teachers promoting Integrated Inclusive Education the regular teaching experience shall be reduced from 15 years to 10 years of regular service. In case of Headmasters/Principals, 15 years teaching experience including 5 years' service, as Headmaster/Principal.
  • The Educational Administrators including DEOs/DEEOs/Principals DIETs, GETTIs, BITEs/Dy. DEOs/BEOs/ BEEOs and the staff of SCERT/SSA and staff working at the Directorate are not eligible for these awards.
  • Only those teachers having requisite years of teaching experience, as mentioned at Sr. No. (i) & (ii) above on 31st March of the year of Award, shall be eligible to be considered for the award.
  • No retired teachers shall be asked/permitted to apply for the award.
  • Only those teachers shall be eligible whose grading in the last ten years Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs/APARs) are (+A/A).
  • Only those teachers shall be eligible whose Board Class results (of 10th and 12th Classes) of last 5 years are not in minus as compared to board results.
  • In case of Head of Institution (Principal/Headmaster), the general school results of Board classes (10th and 12th) of last 5 years should not be in minus as compared to Board results.
  • Only those teachers shall be eligible whose class results of non-board classes of last 5 years are 80% or more.
